Cubiks Verbal Ability Test

The Cubiks Verbal Ability Test is designed to measure the ability to understand written information and to evaluate arguments about this information.

Intermediate Verbal Ability Test
In Intermediate Verbal Ability Tests, candidates can get different sorts of questions such as:

Antonyms - An antonym is a word which is of contrary meaning to another. In the Antonyms Test, the candidate has to select the word that is the opposite of the given word. 

Verbal Reasoning - These questions require the candidate to answer questions using information contained in passages of the test. 

Verbal analogies -  In a verbal analogy question the candidate is given one pair of related words/statements and he or she has to decide whether there is a true analogy, a false one, or neither.

Example of a Cubiks Intermediate Verbal Ability - Antonyms question.

The answer to the sample question above is C "Simplicity". Simplicity has the exact opposite meaning of Intricacy.

Advanced Verbal Ability
In the Advanced Verbal Ability Tests, candidates are provided with a passage of written information, often relevant to the work place, and are asked to answer questions based on this given information. This test typically takes around 25 minutes, and consist of 36 questions.

The correct answer to the example question above is D, "Decreasing labor wage".

A.    The passage states that a poorly educated workforce results in decreased, indeed ever decreasing, levels of productivity.

B.    The passage states that a poorly educated workforce has a negative impact on the organization, in terms of high costs per individual worker.

C.    The passage states that ignorant and poorly skilled staff can’t (or at least shouldn’t) be promoted.

D.    The passage does not mention decreasing labor wage.

 

Cubiks Numerical Ability Test

The Cubiks Numerical Ability Test is designed to assess the understanding of tables of statistical and numerical data, as well as the ability to make logical deductions. It is common for this test to be related and relevant to the workplace, requiring the job candidate to solve realistic numerical problems.

Intermediate Numerical Ability Test
In the Cubiks Intermediate Numerical Ability Test, the candidate has to work out some simple calculations such as completing a sum by working out a missing number or operator. For example, a question could be:“37:+4=52-?”. The candidates’ task is to choose the right answer from 5 different given possible answers. Another task that can be asked in this task is where the candidate is presented with number sequences which are given as finite sequences of numbers in certain patterns. To solve these sequences the candidate is required to figure out the rule/pattern and come up with the next logical number in the sequence.

The answer to the example above is E, "Thursday 25 September". Today is August 11th. August has 31 days which means that it will be September 11th  in exactly 31 days. This leaves 45 – 31 = days; 11 + 14 = 25, thus the exam presentation will take place on September 25  Now we need to determine on which day this will fall. Today is Monday. Monday + 1 week is Monday; there are 6 weeks and 3 days in 45 days. Monday + 3 days brings us to Thursday so the exam presentation will happen on Thursday, September 25th.

Advanced Numerical Ability Test
Cubiks Advanced Numerical Ability Tests consist of questions where the candidate is given tables of statistical and numerical data, and questions about these tables are asked. The candidate has to choose from a set of possible answers. This test typically takes around 25 minutes, and consist of 20 questions.

The answer to the example question above is C, 40 million. This can be calculated as follows:

Cubiks Abstract Ability Test

The Cubiks Abstract Ability Test is used to assess an individual's ability to analyze, evaluate and draw logical inferences from diagrammatic data. To do this, the candidate is required to identify patterns in diagrams and identify a missing or following diagram in the given series. 

Intermediate Abstract Ability Test
Cubiks Intermediate Abstract Ability Tests consist of a given row of 5 diagrams where a logical pattern is to be found. The task of the candidate is to choose the correct logical next diagram from a set of 5 different answers. This test typically takes around 4 minutes, and consist of 10 questions.

The right answer of the example question above is C.  The pattern is: there is a balance when the sum of the amount of blocks multiplied by the distance to the middle is the same on the left and right side.

Advanced Abstract Ability Test
Cubiks Advanced Abstract Ability Tests is essentially the same as the Intermediate test, but the difficulty of the patterns and the number of patterns that can be found is higher. This test typically takes around 15 minutes, and consist of 30 questions.

The right answer in the example question above is B. There are two patterns to be found.

Pattern 1: The large circle turns 60 degrees counter clockwise every step.  

Pattern 2: The small circle turns 120 degrees counter clockwise every step.

Situational Judgement Test

The Cubiks Situational Judgement Test assesses a candidate's aptitude and suitability for a potential role based on their responses in a decision-making scenario that is often related to the working environment. This test is commonly used by recruiters who go through a high volume of applicants. According to Cubiks, the SJT can automatically screen out between 30% and 50% of total applicants.

In a Situational Judgment Test, a number of situations will be presented to you and you will have to pretend to be present in that specific situation. With that in mind, you are going to have to respond or react to these situations.

In the example above the first reaction should be the least likely to do and the third the most likely to do.

The first reaction is not a particularly appropriate response because you are expected to be able to prioritize your daily activities. Although you have your responsibilities to your team, the wider business should be of optimum priority and the project manager would not have asked you if it is not important.

The third reaction is the most effective response. Because you are trying to accommodate both projects, which are important.
