Logical Reasoning Ability

Logical Reasoning Ability Variant 1

Logical Reasoning Ability Test measures your ability to draw logical conclusions based on information provided, identify strengths and weaknesses of arguments, and complete scenarios using incomplete information.

The correct answer is Person E.

D has reached a higher position than B but not as high as E: E > D > B.
C is at a position not higher than D and not lower than A: D > C > A.
A is not lower than F and not higher than B: B > A > F.
Combining the inequalities, we get: E > D > B, C > A > F.
Person E has climbed the highest, while person F has climbed the lowest.

Logical Reasoning Ability Variant 2

These tests consist of different syllogisms where you must choose the right conclusion. A syllogism is a type of logical argument composed of three parts, being two premises (a major premise and a minor premise), and a conclusion inferred from the provided premises. A premise is a proposition that is used as evidence in an argument, while you assert a conclusion by the logical result of an argument based on the relationship of the stated arguments. Remember to always only focus on the information provided in the premises and conclusions; don’t use general knowledge when solving syllogism questions. Syllogism tests are standardized psychometric assessment tests that provide the employing organization with information about a candidate’s deductive and logical reasoning skills.

In the example question above, only conclusion II and III are correct.

Conclusion I is invalid because one can picture a situation where some rivers are beautiful while the statements hold. No rivers are beautiful.

Conclusion II is valid. No oceans are rivers or no rivers are oceans.

Conclusion III is valid. All oceans are beautiful and at least some beautiful are oceans.

Conclusion IV is invalid because no Conclusion can be made that at least some rivers are beautiful or otherwise.

In the picture below it is visualized how the premises can be interpreted, and how the conclusions can be drawn. By drawing these diagrams about every premise, it is much easier to interpret the premises and draw conclusions.

Verbal Aptitude

In these tests, you are asked to choose the right missing words in an analogy. An analogy is a word problem comprised of two different pairs of words. In the test, the word problem is set up to reveal one set of words first. This pair of words is related to each other in some way. Then the problem gives you the first word of the second pair, and it is up to you to complete the second pair by choosing the second word out of the answer options. However, this latter word must be related to the first word in the second pair in the same manner that the first pair of words is related to each other. To solve a Verbal Analogy, you need to find that relationship.

The answer in the example above is “Flatterer.” Slander and defame are synonym words referring to a false and defamatory statement or charge, sycophant and flatterer are synonym words used to describe someone who praises people.

Numerical Reasoning Ability

In Numerical Reasoning Ability Tests, you are asked to find the missing number in a given sequence. This initial sequence has a defined pattern, and you are to determine this pattern and thereby find the missing number. These tests, also called Number Sequence Tests, provide the employing organization with information about a candidate’s general ability to logically reason with numbers.

Mathematical Aptitude

These tests measure your general numerical aptitude by presenting you with several mathematical problems you need to solve. These questions test your ability to calculate fast and efficiently. Don’t forget to manage your time carefully. Make a mental calculation of how much time you need to solve each question, so you have enough time to answer all questions. If you are taking longer answering one question, move to the next one and in case you have time left you can go back to answer the question you skipped.

The right answer is 22. This is calculated as shown below:

(60 ÷ (-20)) + ( 3 * 5/3 * 5 ) = -3 + 25 = 22

Abstract Reasoning

This test is designed to measure a candidate’s ability to work flexibly with unfamiliar information and find solutions. People who perform well on Abstract Reasoning Tests tend to have a higher capacity to think conceptually as well as analytically. The questions consist of a sequence of shapes displayed in a row. The candidates’ task is to find the logical pattern through inductive reasoning. Then the candidate is then asked to choose the correct missing shape.

The right answer to the example question above is E. You can find the following patterns:

Pattern 1: The figure rotates 135 degrees clockwise.

Pattern 2: The colored dot and the two white stripes move one step clockwise each time within the figure.

Spatial Reasoning

Spatial Reasoning Tests are nonverbal, standardized psychometric assessment tests that provide the employing organization with information about a candidate’s ability to mentally re-arrange, rotate and manipulate shapes or objects without physically touching them. These tests are often used in technical sectors (such as engineering) but also in the military.

Spatial reasoning is essential for solving everyday problems, such as using a map and compass, merging into high-speed traffic, and orienting yourself in your environment. Other examples of tasks that require visual-spatial ability are determining the size of a box and how many objects fit in it, and using mirror images.

Spatial ability is also essential in many fields of study, such as mathematics, natural sciences, architecture, astronomy, engineering and economic forecasting.
