Inductive Reasoning questions measure a candidate's ability to draw inferences and understand the relationships between various concepts independent of acquired knowledge. Inductive Reasoning questions typically involve a number of diagrams or pictures. Candidates will be required to identify patterns, rules and/or association between them by thinking conceptually and analytically. Inductive Reasoning tests are also referred to as Logical or Diagrammatic Reasoning.

In this Inductive Reasoning Test question, you must look at the movements and changes of the shapes and look for patterns.  For this example, the correct answer is D. This can be inferred from the following patterns:

Pattern 1: The arrow is on the left, in the middle and the right of the picture. This repeats itself.

Pattern 2: The arrow points alternatingly to the right or downwards.

Pattern 3: The spheres move to the left, the most left sphere gets added to the right.

Pattern 4: If the arrow points to a sphere, this sphere gets added to the bottom row.

Connector Ability Matrices questions assess a candidate's inductive/logical reasoning ability by measuring their skills in working flexibly with unfamiliar information and finding solutions. The candidate is asked to answer questions based on an incomplete series of symbols, where the candidate has to choose the missing symbol.

In the Matrices Test question above, you must choose which one of the given options best fits the missing symbol in the grid. You do this by inferring the rules and sequences of the diagram as the following solution explains in detail. In this question, the correct answer is A. The following rules can be found:

In every column, one of the three stripes is missing. So the answer is the figure where the stripe is missing, that is present in the other two figures in that column.

In a Number Sequences question, you are asked to find a connection between given numbers in a sequence and choose the right number that comes next. These tests provide the employing organization with information about a candidate’s general ability to logically reason with numbers.
